The chickens are confused…..

This – is what my back yard usually looks like before I go to work. image
This is what it looks like this morning.
Just a little apocalyptic….
There are currently a hundred or so forest fires burning in this province at the moment – some small, some many thousands of acres. imageimageimageimage
Little hard on the breathing – had to turn on all the lights to get the chores done – and all the chickens ran back into the barn – thinking it was time to roost.
On the upside – it finally started to rain ever so lightly. I’m thinking maybe the ash will be good for the garden πŸ˜„

Heard most of the province are in the middle of hot spots. Be safe.

  2. Wow, that seems too close. Stay safe.

They seem to be getting a handle on some of the closer fires – and some of the larger ones are far enough away that unless the wind shifts we shouldn’t have any more smoke.

Wow, that really does look weird and apocalyptic. I hope they’re all extinguished or under control now.

I am curious: do you know what causes your fires? We had a major fire in Sweden this year, usually it rains more than this summer so even if we do have forest fires they are usually never this big and doesn’t really get out of control like this. This big one is said to have been started by forest machines which is regarded as a common starter along with trains and sometimes lightnings. Several of the logging companies in the area had stopped their work for fear of fires but one company had not and there has been talk of them having to pay for damages although I guess the outcome of a process like that is not very predictable. Your pictures are really dramatic and I can not imagine having to go to work, leaving all the animals behind. Be safe!

Most of the fires are caused by lightening – some by people who seem to lack a brain….we have very mountainous densely forested terrain in this province (despite all the clear cutting) and many fires are hard to fight because of that. If the rating is extreme – they sometimes shut down the logging altogether.

  5. The fire didn’t get you did it? Or the dinosaur mutant chickens? Or the crazy bird? Or the goofy house climbing dog…

πŸ˜„Nope – none of the above. The work load this year has nearly finished me off – for the last several weeks I’ve been almost swimming in milk from the jersey – pulling extra shifts at work as its crazy busy – and trying to stay on top of everything without going postal.
On the upside – there’s not enough time left in my day to create any smelly sock cheese….though I do have a freezer full of butter, cream cheese, mozzarella, ricotta…..
I’ve made myself a deal. The first snowflake that hits the ground I’m going to get my butt back at the laptop and catch up on some blogging.
